Decades of conservation collaboration keeps Rio Grande Cutthroat off ESA

Great news for Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout!

Decades of work by conservation partners, including WNTI, was recognized this week when the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced its decision to not list the Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).  The Dec. 9, 2024, decision acknowledged the critical partnerships that have ensured the species is not in danger of extinction or likely to become in danger of extinction in the foreseeable future.

WNTI would like to congratulate all of the conservation partners who have worked together for over 20 years to improve the status of Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout.
