East vs West: Approaches to Native Trout Management Across North America symposium seeking abstracts

The Western Native Trout Initiative is excited to partner with the Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture and the Fish Habitat Section of the American Fisheries Society to host a dynamic symposium on wild trout management at this year’s national American Fisheries Society Annual Meeting—and we want you to be part of it!

This symposium will highlight conservation and management of native trout across North America, including both the conservation of Brook Trout and the challenges facing native trout in the West.  Bringing together managers from the east and west to enable collaborative discussions that will lead to better management of native trout. We are now seeking speakers for our “East vs. West” trout session and invite you to submit an abstract. This session will spotlight trout conservation efforts from across the country, from the challenges facing Brook Trout in the East to the incredible diversity of native trout species in the West.  If you have a story, case study, or lesson learned from trout conservation work, we’d love to hear it!

The call for abstracts is open now—submissions are due April 22.

We hope to see you at the 156th Annual Meeting of the American Fisheries Society in Columbus, Ohio, August 30-September 3, 2026!
